i too have, just as HC64 whatched my lad go flat out into a tyre wall backwards, he almost came out of his kart and was bent back over his seat. personally i think that he would have been far worse of if he hadnt have had his neck brace on.
they do help a bit... we only use our in race and not practice so he is strenghtening his neck. as itpro has said they support the helmet weight so its good to practice without to give your neck muscles a workout.
totally agree with itpro about the hans... not suited for karting.
